    The pre-eminent expression of lifelong learning in the United States, Chautauqua Institution comes alive each summer with a unique mix of fine and performing arts, lectures, interfaith worship and programs, and recreational activities. Over the course of nine weeks, more than 100,000 people visit Chautauqua and participate in programs, classes and community events for all ages — all within the beautiful setting of a historic lakeside village. As a community, we celebrate, encourage and study the arts and treat them as integral to all of learning, and we convene the critical conversations of the day to advance understanding through civil dialogue.

    Responsibilities

    • The Housekeeping staff will report directly to the Host and Hostess of the Hall of Mission.
    • Cleanliness of the Hall of Missions is one of the most important aspects and we strive to keep a staff that is motivated and detailed orientated, when it comes to maintaining a high level of room quality.
    • Follow all safety guidelines for housekeepers as set by OSHA standards.
    • Cleans all room/public areas as assigned ensuring proper procedure and checklist are followed.
    • Ensures all aspects of the room are in working order and report any issues or replacements needed (i.e. TV, remote, light bulbs, etc.).
    • Assist with catered events when assigned.
    • Responsible for restocking supply and reporting any low inventory to the Host or Hostess immediately.
    • Communicates with the host or Hostess of any issues, complaints, repairs, etc.
    • Maintains a high level of guest/customer service when interacting with staff and Chautauquans. 

    Qualifications

    • Part-time position.
    • Approximately 20 hours per week minimum. 
    • Previous housekeeping experience preferred
    • Detail Oriented.
    • Able to work either the morning or evening.
    • Reliable transportation
    • Must be 16+ on or before June.
    • Strong communication and guest service skills.
    • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand/walk for extended periods of time.
