  • Overview

The pre-eminent expression of lifelong learning in the United States, Chautauqua Institution comes alive each summer with a unique mix of fine and performing arts, lectures, interfaith worship and programs, and recreational activities. Over the course of nine weeks, more than 100,000 people visit Chautauqua and participate in programs, classes and community events for all ages — all within the beautiful setting of a historic lakeside village. As a community, we celebrate, encourage and study the arts and treat them as integral to all of learning, and we convene the critical conversations of the day to advance understanding through civil dialogue.

The Chautauqua experience is based around one's engagement in five program areas: arts, education, religion, recreation, and youth. Interns will shoot video various events in multiple venues throughout the season. You will be responsible for coordinating videos with the Director of Multimedia and Design and the Multimedia Producer, assisting with story lines, filming, cataloguing and editing videos for marketing of the Institution and its affiliates. You may also be filming/working on our live streaming projects in coordination with the Marketing Office. We plan to be broadcasting multiple events through FaceBook Live. The program runs from June 10-August 25, 2019, associates may start or leave the season early depending on their academic schedule, upon prior arrangement and approval. Pre-June 10 start date and work is possible along with post August 25 work. Examples of the types of work you'd be creating or contributing to can be found below or on our YouTube channel and website.
