    The pre-eminent expression of lifelong learning in the United States, Chautauqua Institution comes alive each summer with a unique mix of fine and performing arts, lectures, interfaith worship and programs, and recreational activities. Over the course of nine weeks, more than 100,000 people visit Chautauqua and participate in programs, classes and community events for all ages — all within the beautiful setting of a historic lakeside village. As a community, we celebrate, encourage and study the arts and treat them as integral to all of learning, and we convene the critical conversations of the day to advance understanding through civil dialogue.

    Responsibilities

    The Special Studies registration Clerks provide clerical and customer service support for registration of youth and adult participants for the Special Studies program. Youth and adults register in person at the Special Studies office at Hulquist Center, by phone or on-line through Chautauqua Institution's ticketing system.

    • Process written, phone and in-person registration orders for Special Studies courses.
    • Provide general support for any customer visiting the Special Studies office.
    • Assists with room set-up and additional classroom demands as needed.
    • Complete various administrative tasks as needed.
    • Reports to Special Studies registrar.
    • Position starts two weeks prior to season start date. Must be available to work Sundays.
    • Must be self motivated, attentive to detail, and possess exceptional customer service skills.
    • Ability to work in a team environment to address concerns and solve problems.
    • Willingness to take direction and complete administrative tasks as required by Special Studies staff.

    Qualifications

    • Demonstrated reliability and commitment to accuracy and efficiency.
    • Proficiency with computers and databases.
    • Must be 18 years of age or older.
    • 1-2 years previous customer service experience strongly preferred.
