    The pre-eminent expression of lifelong learning in the United States, Chautauqua Institution comes alive each summer with a unique mix of fine and performing arts, lectures, interfaith worship and programs, and recreational activities. Over the course of nine weeks, more than 100,000 people visit Chautauqua and participate in programs, classes and community events for all ages — all within the beautiful setting of a historic lakeside village. As a community, we celebrate, encourage and study the arts and treat them as integral to all of learning, and we convene the critical conversations of the day to advance understanding through civil dialogue.


    Chautauqua's Special Studies program offers classes for all ages in a variety of subjects, including art, music, business, computers, culinary, handcrafts, history, photography, music, and theater.

    • The A/V Coordinator supports and assists in the set up and operation of audio/visual equipment (TV, DVD, projector) for all Special Studies classrooms on Institution grounds.
    • Ensures a flawless class by providing faculty with exceptional customer service and quality assurance.
    • Follows up with faculty during the week to make sure complete satisfaction is achieved and is accountable for all inventory at the end of each class. 
    • Responsible for a cell phone that will be issued for the summer season and must be on call for any A/V problems that occur. 
    • Position starts one week prior to season start date. Must be available to work Sundays.


    • Must be creative and flexible with strong communication skills and the ability to interact with coworkers, faculty and students, often under deadline pressure.
    • Ability to handle tasks independently.
    • Lifting of heavy equipment and tables required.
    • 18 years and up.
    • 1-2 years of previous customer service experience strongly preferred.
