    The pre-eminent expression of lifelong learning in the United States, Chautauqua Institution comes alive each summer with a unique mix of fine and performing arts, lectures, interfaith worship and programs, and recreational activities. Over the course of nine weeks, more than 100,000 people visit Chautauqua and participate in programs, classes and community events for all ages — all within the beautiful setting of a historic lakeside village. As a community, we celebrate, encourage and study the arts and treat them as integral to all of learning, and we convene the critical conversations of the day to advance understanding through civil dialogue.


    The Afterwords Café and Kellogg Gallery Café Prep Cook/Dish Washer


    • Works with Culinary Team and Service Team to support systems in place for:
      • federal, state and local regulatory guidelines for food safety and sanitation
      • food quality and plate presentation
      • for food production, proper portioning and following the recipe
      • communicating food ordering needs to Kitchen Manager and Kitchen Supervisors
      • inventory controls, track and manage waste, shrink
      • working neat, clean and orderly and proper use of dish machine
    • Ability to receive ongoing training, coaching redirection/development from Supervisors and Kitchen Managers
    • Must:

      • Be able to attend orientation and all subsequent training
      • Follow all company policies
      • Possess superior leadership skills
      • Possess superior teamwork skills
      • Possess positive attitude through speech and body language
      • Be responsible to uphold uniform policy, personal hygiene, and grooming standards and present in a professional manner
      • Embrace and reflect the company culture and values as stated in the Culture/Mission Statement to reach each common goal
      • Perform all other duties as assigned
      • Work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
      • be able to stand and walk as constant conditions
      • be able to stand frequent handling of objects, reaching, maneuvering and continually positioning of oneself to perform assigned tasks
      • be able to physically grasp and transport items up to 50 pounds, including kitchen supplies and dishware
      • be able to work a flexible schedule to include 6 a.m opening shifts and/or midnight or later closing shift
      • Be willing to be cross-trained into other positions




    * 1-2 years’ experience working in a high-volume fast food restaurant



    * Food Handler Certification preferred, but not required
