Over the course of nine weeks, more than 100,000 people visit Chautauqua and participate in programs, classes and community events for all ages — all within the beautiful setting of a historic lakeside village. As a community, we celebrate, encourage and study the arts and treat them as integral to all of learning, and we convene the critical conversations of the day to advance understanding through civil dialogue.

    Responsibilities

    Bartenders will produce alcoholic beverages for guests of the Athenaeum Hotel and Heirloom Restaurant. Bartenders are responsible for portion control, cocktail recipe execution and providing outstanding guest service.  Bartenders prepare beer and wine beverage orders, as well as mixed drinks for dining room service. This position will also bartend for special events and weddings. 

     

    Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

    • Knowledge of beer, wine and liquor
    • Consistently prepare mixed drinks according to standards of Athenaeum Hotel
    • Receive and prepare bar beverage orders from service staff
    • Quickly service guests at fast paced events bars
    • Cleaning glasses, utensils and bar area
    • Restocking beer, wine, and glasses 
    • Track guest orders and report daily sales through the POS-System (Opera) 
    • Track complimentary, unwanted, or lost beverages
    • Comply with liquor laws of New York State 
    • All other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • 1-2 years prior experience bartending in a fine dining establishment required.
    • Must have professional communication skills to interact with guests, team and front of house leadership
    • New York State Law requires employees who serve alcoholic beverages to be (18) years of age or older
