Over the course of nine weeks, more than 100,000 people visit Chautauqua and participate in programs, classes and community events for all ages — all within the beautiful setting of a historic lakeside village. As a community, we celebrate, encourage and study the arts and treat them as integral to all of learning, and we convene the critical conversations of the day to advance understanding through civil dialogue.


    Floor Supervisors will ensure efficient restaurant operations by supporting Heirloom Restaurant Management.  This position will provide working leadership during a designated shift with entry-level management responsibilities that include staff supervision, guest interaction, and quality control. Floor Supervisors are required to commit to a flexible schedule and full time (40-hours/week) during operating season with opportunities to work some pre/post season events at the historic Athenaeum Hotel. This is an ideal summer job opportunity for college students with a focus on hospitality/restaurant management, or, experienced service staff who would like an opportunity to develop professional skills in restaurant management.


    Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:   

    • Over see 'Front of House' Staff and restaurant operations during a designated shift
    • Interact with guests to ensure dining experience aligns with established satisfaction standards 
    • Maintain an efficient, effective restaurant operation in a fast-paced atmosphere
    • Collaborate with Kitchen Staff on food service and quality control 
    • Assist Heirloom Restaurant Management in controlling budgeted cost of labor and food/beverage services 
    • Conduct training on company/departmental policies/procedures for seasonal staff
    • Ensure a clean/safe work environment for guests and staff


    • Minimum 1-2 years prior experience in high volume restaurant operation required; fine dining experience strongly preferred
    • Prior supervisory experience in a high volume and/or fine dining restaurant strongly preferred
    • Familiarity with POS-Systems as well as ability to learn new system/train users is required
    • Must have effective communication skills to interact with leadership and direct staff
    • New York State Law requires employees who serve alcoholic beverages to be (18) years of age or older
