  • Overview

    Responsible for managing the overall functioning of the gate operations including a staff of 40.  Ensures exceptional customer service is delivered at the seven entry gates during the Chautauqua summer season.  This is a full-time seasonal position (approximately 45 hours/week) and includes working on Saturdays.  The position begins early May and ends in early September.  


    1. Recruits staff including interviewing, selection and hiring-related paperwork.
    2. Schedules coverage at all seven gates.  Hours of operation vary by gate location but are generally 7:00am-11:15pm.
    3. Ensures staff provides exceptional customer service through training, monitoring and coaching performance.
    4. Develops reference materials for staff use so each gate attendant can service as an information ambassador.
    5. Oversees functioning to ensure each gate location is clean and fully stocked for operation. 
    6. Works closely with the police department and ticket office for efficient flow of foot and vehicle traffic.
    7. Interacts regularly with Chautauquans and guests.
    8. Coordinates parking lot traffic staff on high volume nights.
    9. Maintains a positive and professional manner at all times.


    Prior experience supervising a large staff and operations required, management experience preferred. 

    Willing to work nights and weekends during the summer season.  

    Proven customer service experience.

    Ability to make appropriate decisions in stressful situations.

    Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

    Enjoys working outdoors and in an office environment.
