  • Overview

    The Special Functions/Banquet Manager manages the daily functions of the hospitality or banquet department, and manages a team of servers. Banquet managers are responsible for the presentation and decorum of the work area in which banquets/weddings are held. Along with working with the staff, banquet managers are one of the first, or last lines of contact with guests should they have inquiries about events. This means that excellent communication is required to allow the team to work together, and to make sure the guest’s needs are being met.

    Responsibilities

    Duties:

    • Scheduling staff
    • Overseeing the staff, and being able to give good direction along with good communication is important, as is being able to follow directions efficiently and meeting the physical demands of the job. 
    • A positive attitude while being courteous and attentive on the job is also essential.
    • Being able to interact with customers to solve problems and increase satisfaction.
    • Communications with multiple departments and supervision of staff to produce quality dining events.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum age 18
    • Restaurant/Catering food service experience
    • Management Experience
    • Strong interpersonal communication skills
    • Degree in hospitality preferred, although education requirement may be substituted for a high school diploma with at least three years management and dining and food service experience along with proven performance
